Wulf Gnais

Description

There is no disguising that Wulf Gnais is some sort of monster. He stands over six and a half feet tall at full height. But his rock-hard body weighs over 400 pounds. Wulf seems to have been carved from the heart of some great mountain. His flesh is in fact like stone, rough and gray with a few black striations. Naturally, he lacks all hair, and his eyes are inhuman black orbs of cunning vigilance. His form is just what he appears: a gargoyle. Clawed hands and feet, as well as sharp fangs, tusks, and horns jutting from a demonic face, depict how deadly this creature is in combat. Large bat-like wings spread from his back when he takes flight, otherwise remaining furled to a bent-over back, masking his stature. An amulet on a leather thong is slung around his neck and the rough, corundum oval is almost invisible against his chest. Occasionally, Wulf totes a long spear of wood and iron bite. But he usually relies instead on his arsenal of stony claws and fangs and horns. When stirred to battle, those black eyes of his begin to glow red-orange with hunger and ferocity unmatched.

History

Wulf Gnais belonged to a wing of gargoyles in the western peaks of the Sonodell Mountains. Within the mountainous passages and caverns, Wulf was born and raised to be fierce, watchful, and sadistic. The latter never quite caught on before the wing’s brutal strength was put to the test. A band of hearty adventurers traveled through those mountains, and the wing fell upon them in wrath. And Wulf witnessed his whole family be slaughtered by these powerful heroes. He held back, refusing to join into the battle, even fleeing the scene. Screams of cowardice from his dying kin were tossed back at him, even as they blindly fought to the death. But he didn’t want to die…not for no good reason. The gargoyles didn’t even live in that part of the cave; they just wanted to hound travelers needlessly. Wulf was not a good person of any degree, but he was not a sadistic freak either. So he flew west, leaving the Sonodells behind. Wulf decided he was going to become strong and fierce and outlive his moment of cowardice, and he would do so by working with an able and shrewd ally, not daft and monstrous psychopaths.

Personality

Wulf lives by the moment and the freedom of his inhuman body. But he does not target random victims to torment and savage. This gargoyle would rather fight for glory and his own personal freedom than random conflict. He fears his past will one day come back to haunt him and he will die fighting his own kind. Thus, Wulf avoids other gargoyles as much as possible.

Goals

Wulf will be content to pursue the fighter class to mastery (20th level+) and beyond as an epic gargoyle warrior.
