Wade Plover

Description

Dashing and charming, Wade Plover appears to be a man of pedigree and potential, both squandered for a lower life. Wade seems content to impress the ladies with his dazzling good looks that scream "bastard son of the local baron". Messy brown hair fits the life of a highwayman well, as do the leather pants and vest that clothe his muscular frame. His deliberate and wide gesticulation often flashes the gold mother-of-pearl ring he always wears on one hand. Wade also always has two keen swords strapped to his waist by their scabbards. They swing when he walks, silently promising shenanigans.

History

An authentic son of Smyth, one might have assumes that Wade embodied heroism. Not so. Smyth was as notorious for its villainy as it is for birthing heroes. Truly, Wade seemed out of place near Smyth, given to his habit of waylaying those travelers brave enough to wander as far as the town. He didn't start that way. A former lord of Smyth enjoyed a tryst with a pretty barmaid and Wade came as the consequence. But papa wanted nothing to do with a bastard and abandoned Wade to the winds. Fortunately, people were willing to help raise the young man. Wade claims several (and often he simply says all of) prominent members of the town took turns raising the youth. He trained as a warrior with the mild ambition of joining and someday leading the city guard. Ha! How dreams change! Wade met a certain halfling already leaning towards felony and the two joined forces to wreak havoc on would-be visitors for years, irritating the local thieves' guild and the city guard as an inseparable team.

Personality

Wade is all swagger and guts. He acts tough and brave because he is tough and brave. As thieves and thugs go, Wade is more warrior than one might expect. But he's quick to let his swords explain that, with little compassion for those he bleeds and robs. He and his partner, Aviceia, are much alike in that regard.

Goals

Wade will pursue mastery of "irregular combat" -- the fighter and rogue classes both. He is not the least bit magically inclined.
