Verin
Description
Verin's demonic attraction is frightening. He stands at 10'4" tall, weighing over a ton of packed muscle. All of his attributes are, in fact, godlike, and beyond normal depiction. His musculature makes him appear no mightier than an ogre, yet the prince's stride cannot be accurately measured for its perfect cadence and deadly puissance. Verin's manly good looks are breathtaking, god-like in nature, for he is gifted with apollonian features twisted by his abyssal heritage. His skin is shaded black as midnight, and his silky hair blends in with his flesh tone. Horns protrude from his brow and his eyes burn with the intensity of balefire and the epiphany of venom. Of course, his speech is silver-tongued, an irresistible voice capable of luring anyone who hears it in any fashion he wishes. Verin is truly a spitting image of his "dear old dad", Graz'zt. A long, slender, and fork-tipped tail extends from Verin's rear, swaying laconically from side to side. Great, bat-like pinions extend from his back, providing flight easily. Verin wears no armor, scarcely needing it with his incredible alacrity.
But the demon prince is garbed in custom-fitted, loose-fitting, rich, and silk clothes, favoring dark blues with gold and diamonds. All of his accouterments are fantastically expensive, and most radiate magic. Indeed, Verin's whole persona is a magnificent and mind-blowing combination of demonic royalty, magical intensity, and god-like prowess. It seems impossible to even look upon Verin without collapsing to one's knees and begging. And much begging is ado when Verin draws forth that black spiked chain, Anandis. It whips through the air, singing its own evil song as it seeks the bloodshed its ancient wielder is sure to bring.
History
The demon prince, Graz'zt, habitually took numerous demonic lovers. One of his favorite was the succubus, Jelenia, who spawned him two children thousands of years ago. Verin was his son, born into the Palace of Black Silk (on the 400th layer of the Abyss) precisely 5,672 years hence. Verin's sister, Eve, was born a meager 30 years later. Like their father, both children were gifted with his unmatched abilities of persuasion, and their potential combat skills were just as terrifying. But Graz'zt was never very interested in these two children, needing and wanting no heirs. Their upbringing was left to Jelenia and a powerful marilith named Apsardu. From those demonesses, Verin learned all he needed to about his magical abilities, fighting talents, and how to seduce, lead, persuade, inspire, and terrify. For centuries, Verin studied under his mother and this mentor, and enjoyed Apsardu as a favorite lover. He watched his sister learn as well, and a general rivalry developed between the pair. It was not a hateful feud, but competitive all the same.
As centuries ticked by into millennia, Verin grew restless. He eagerly hopped into any and every available battle, fighting under his father's banner. He waged wars against fellow tanar'ri, especially the forces of Demogorgon. He fought against baatezu and celestials and elementals. He seemed unbeatable, a true anti-champion on the battlefield. Perhaps only Eve could defeat him, but since the siblings never fought each other in these years, who could say? Verin secretly sought his father's respect, but only a passing nod of approval was all the young prince could hope for. It slowly filled him with anger and hatred for Graz'zt. Even when Graz'zt, as a reward for his son's skill, presented him with Anandis, a famous demonic weapon crafted in the Black Forge and imbued with abyssal intelligence, Verin felt unfulfilled.
Apparently, his sister felt similarly, for both siblings abandoned their father's armies a couple thousand years ago. They retreated to the Jet Chasm, the humble 9th layer of the Abyss. There they built a grand palace and castle they could share together and rule over. They amassed a number of loyal tanar'ri to their sides, balors and succubi and mariliths and more. It was enough of a force to defend their claim, though scarcely an army by which to wage their own campaigns against other princes. Unsurprisingly, Verin grew bored quickly. The rivalry between he and Eve grew, although no social rift developed. They were still brother and sister, close as ever. The viciousness of their competitions just worsened, and soon they were pitching battles against each other. Demons loyal to prince or princess fought alongside their master or mistress, and Verin and Eve themselves "sparred" regularly. To outsiders, it seemed Verin and his sister were on the brink of self-annihilation. But anyone foolish enough to try and take advantage of that false rift were in for a painful shock.
Personality
Verin is fantastically powerful and he knows it. Millennia of combat experience have honed Verin into a brutal adversary, unmatched on most plains of battle. He revels in his raw prowess, and to a degree it has all gone to his head. Verin's as arrogant as one would expect a demon prince to be. But he's also a charismatic ruler and a strategic genius who knows his limitations; he would never challenge his father head-on, for example. But…he would like to unseat Graz'zt. Verin believes he would be a better demon king than his father, and better designed to lead the tanar'ri to triumph over the other would-be lords, like Demogorgon and Orcus. Verin does recognize, however, that he's not quite complete without his sister. They've been together and nearly inseparable for ages. They're meant to be together, to rule together, and he accepts that. But until he can figure out a way to go about defeating dad, he contents himself with these notorious, bloody games with Eve.
Goals
Verin has taken the fighter class as far as he wants go and will now seek to master the blackguard class (10th level). Once that's accomplished, he might consider a more magical avenue, such as cleric or sorcerer.
