Ve Mirmir -- "Grayhook"
Description
Ve Mirmir stands only 3'7" and weighs no more than 47 pounds, but he's a stout and quick little fellow. His age can be hard to determine, but with study one can assume that the bald deep gnome seems to be in his mid-20s. This svirfneblin's features seem perfect to blend into his underground habitat. His wiry muscles and gnarled skin don't add anything to his physical attraction, but the gray-brown coloration acts as natural camouflage in rocky surroundings. Ve wears clothes that do not detract from this advantage either, favoring a simple tunic and leggings granite-gray in color. All buttons and buckles are sanded down, stealing their luster -- and potential notice in the dark. Ve does wear a fine shirt of mithral chains, over which hangs his family mantle of a mining pick amidst broken stone. But over that armor, he wears a vest that matches his breeches to mask its beauty. Slung over his shoulders, Ve carries a high-quality leather backpack that totes his general caving equipment. Strapped onto his right leg is a quiver of bolts for the well-crafted light crossbow hanging at his belt. Looped onto his back under his pack as a back-up weapon is a battleaxe, a burlap sleeve over the fine steel head for protection. But in hand, Ve carries the weapon for which he earned his namesake of "Grayhook". A hooked hammer of grayed steel rests in his grip, the tool turned deadly and versatile weapon ready to inflict punishment on whoever threatens the svirfneblin's secret cities. Large, navy blue (almost gray) eyes sweep his cavernous environment, always expecting danger.
History
A native of Trihoff, a secret underground city of svirfneblin and friends, Ve Mirmir was born back in 858 AK. Ve's father, Qusar, was a famous caver, responsible for single-handedly decimating whole scouting patrols of duergar, drow, and illithids. But age caught up even to the long-lived gnome. When the old ranger retired, he passed the tools onto his son, Ve, whom he personally instructed for decades prior his retirement. Eager to make his father proud, Ve remained a quiet and dedicated guardian of the realm. He was torn between doing his duty as a scout and returning to Trihoff to report sightings of possible dangers, or following his father's footsteps and trying to thwart those dangers as he found them. His father was an excellent caver, of that there was no doubt. Would Ve find the courage (or foolhardiness) to live up to or even surpass his father's reputation?
Personality
Ve is a quiet and thoughtful young gnome. He knows he's well-trained and cautious enough to survive in his role as a caver. But he's overshadowed by Qusar Mirmir's fame. He's not quite as rambunctious and gallant as his father, but Ve is definitely confident and clever enough to get the job done. He just isn't sure if he can go beyond all expectations.
Goals
Ve will master the ranger class (20th level+) before considering a second class, perhaps a Prestige Class like shadow dancer.
