Vayu
Description
Vayu isn't tall but he's definitely broad-shouldered and heavily built. The Hound Archon is packed with tight tendons and bulging muscles, his sienna brown hide straining with that strength. His canine head includes sharp ears and luminous white eyes that lack pupils. His muzzle extends a few inches for that keen hound-like nose and a mouth full of sharp teeth. But rarely does Vayu bare his maw so ferociously. Indeed, this Archon seems calm, sedate, and thoughtful. His movements are steady and confident, his bestial gait giving him an edge in the natural surroundings he seems to prefer to civilization. Meaty fists are often found clutching a circular shield crafted of oak and decorated with the fur of a brown bear and a sword. Vayu boasts a finely crafted scimitar decorated with a star sapphire on the pommel, and the curved blade is surely deadly with his powerful swings. Despite his tough appearance, Vayu still dons simple armor. From the shoulders down to the pelvis, the celestial druid wears a crafted shirt of protective leather, cured and hardened over vital areas. Four emblazoned stripes strike down at 45-degree angles facing each other on both sides of the cuirass as decoration, as if two claws tore down the chest area of the armor. Hanging openly around his neck is a wooden medallion carved in the rough shape of a rearing unicorn -- the symbol of Uná. Pouches are slung on a cord around the girth of his waist, and he often slings a pack of gear over his shoulders. Accompanying Vayu wherever he goes, Sik -- his loyal golden eagle friend -- soars and circles overhead.
History
Vayu came across as a creature in his early adult years, mid-20s at most, for many years now. He was born 2,643 years ago, however, in the Warren of the Moon -- a warm underground lair built into the foothills of Mount Celestia -- the Seven Heavens. There the Hound Archon was reared into a celestial life. His parents and the whole community helped raise him, like all the other pups. But unlike most of the other Hound Archons, Vayu demonstrated a greater appeal to explore the beautiful landscape of Celestia than to uphold codes of honor. While he still understood and followed virtues of loyalty, he felt his obligation called him to nature itself rather than the people who dwelled alongside nature. Perhaps it was just animal instinct, but Vayu answered the call and learned the ways of the celestial druid. He embodied the warmth and nurturing love of life, and in many ways was more true to pure goodness than his more knightly peers. For millennia, Vayu dwelled with his people in the Warren of the Moon. Although something of a loner in the community, he pooled his knowledge and resources to aid the defense of his home. Indeed, since the Warren was set in the foothills of Mount Celestia, the Hound Archons were often the first line of defense against intruders. He was often called upon to help the perfect nature of his world rise up against fiends of all sorts. One day, word was sent down to Vayu from his elders, and from the gods themselves, that his talents were needed elsewhere. He was to travel to the material plane and help certain other celestials uncover a mystery…and thwart a diabolic scheme to overthrow Heaven. To that end, Vayu traveled to Cael and arrived to the Jeweled Delta in Hale. Here would begin this druid's new mission.
Personality
Vayu's ferocity is quiet and invisible, even when he does battle. Only when does he view nature, life, and good people needlessly harmed does this Hound Archon begin to growl with righteous fury. When seriously provoked, he drops all penchant of calm and assumes a terrible shape (often that of the dire wolf) to tear his enemies apart. Otherwise, Vayu is a compassionate, loyal, and laidback companion. He revels in the feel of raw nature, and often takes a canine form, as a wild dog or wolf, to run free in meadows or forests just for fun.
Goals
Vayu will master the Druid class (20th level) and then possibly take up the Prestige class of Hierophant.
