Vaddon Anitain

Description

Vaddon Anitain stands only 5'2" and weighs only 108 pounds, but he's broad shouldered and hearty. The half-elf carries obvious signatures of his sylvan heritage, such as the slightly canted ears and slanted eyes that are as verdant green as the woodlands in which he dwells. Vaddon lets his black hair grow long, and it's a little shaggy, yet this only adds to a primal sense of animal magnetism he exudes. Vaddon wears simple leather armor and brown breeches and vest beneath. A forest green cloak drapes down his back, trailing the soft steps of his doeskin boots. Vaddon carries a circular shield of basic wooden craft. A backpack filled with common gear is strapped over his shoulders. An oaken cudgel and a short bow of yew are both slid through loops on the back of his belt. A scimitar is sheathed at his left hip while a quiver of arrows is strapped to his right leg. Vaddon's youthful features are etched with a measure of solemn purpose. Primordial essence charges his every step through his sylvan homelands, which benefit from his constant guard. He reveres nature and intends to make sure everyone else does, too.

History

In 885 AK, Vaddon Anitain was the only child of a rare couple. In the capitol of the elven lands of Chrystana, Selene, his human mother dwelled with his elven father. The pair were both proud rangers that together had done much to protect the realm from evil. So it was only right that Vaddon be recognized as a proper citizen. Yet he never felt quite welcomed. When his parents both died in a deadly skirmish with hobgoblins, that outsider treatment only deepened. To make matters worse for himself, Vaddon took his parents' death personally. He felt like the world was against him, and he ran away from Selene, vanishing into the woodlands. No elves bothered to go looking for him and Vaddon retreated further from home. He lived off the land, barely doing enough for self-sustenance. On the brink of starvation or worse, Vaddon slipped into a fitful sleep. In his dreams, the elven goddess of the moon, Hylmane visited him. She promised him that his anger was just and that he would have revenge against those that deserved it. But life itself was not responsible for his misery. Life was to be embraced, savored, since death could come at any time. Vaddon wrestled with the vision's portents. While he had yet to come to grips with his human/elven heritage, he at least accepted his place in the world. Through the obeisance shown to him back in Selene, he communed with nature itself. And nature answered, giving him certain powers to represent the truth of life…and death.

Personality

Elves say everyone should respect nature. Vaddon swears that everyone will respect nature, even if that means they must get acquainted with its uglier, bloodier side. Vaddon is not uncaring, however. He loves his life, and cherishes the life others have. He just despises when others take that life for granted, as elves do, or summarily snuff it out for no reason besides hatred, like hobgoblins do.

Goals

Vaddon will answer the call of druidry until mastery (20th level), and then accept a Prestige Class role as hierophant.
