Umri Beyl
Description
Beauty and shadows: Umri Beyl epitomizes dark, wicked flawlessness. The drow only rises five feet tall, but from head to toe, she demonstrates the sort of perfection to which all others may only dare aspire. Umri’s long, satin hair tumbles down her back in a single thick ponytail. It does not show the plain bone-white colorlessness as most dark elves’ hair. Instead, it shines in the right Underdark radiance with white-gold luster. Her eyes smolder not crimson but amber, drawing prey into her ensnaring webs of dominance and wile. In private, Umri can certainly be found in next-to-nothing slips of arachnid silk. But in public, this priestess of Sivarnatta wears only hardened steel that canvases her curvy form in protective plates and chain mail. Spidery fingers close around the haft of a deadly spiked mace, eager to discipline those who displease her and her insatiable goddess.
History
For over 100 years, Umri Beyl blossomed from child to womanhood in the depths of the earth, in the drow city of Qil’Goli (in north Verdentia). House Blacksiren had long maintained its deadly clutch of the city’s matriarchal throne. Umri descended from scions of House Everhate that too long allowed its influence to slip and its champions to be murdered. Umri had no intention to follow suit. She submitted to the temple of Sivarnatta, rising quickly through the training due to her natural proclivities, intellect, and ruthless ambition that saw potential rivals vanish or perish in manner that seemed impossible to connect back to Umri save as coincidence. But perhaps the real reason her elders did not fear her was the assumption that they could use her. She always exhibited utter contempt for slaves and slave races, especially humans and surface elves. They gave her “toys” to keep her distracted and her ambition blunted while tapping her assistance for plots and ploys in the daily salons of Lower Kingdom city life. However, Umri intends only to transform her predilections for sadism and dominance into the characteristics of the greatest matron Qil’Goli ever witnessed, returning Everhate to its rightful ascent.
Personality
Umri is ruthless, cruel, callous, ambitious, brilliant, insightful, and cunning. She possesses all the traits needed to become a leader of dark elves, including a fearless lack of hesitation to take what she believes she deserves. Of course, that impulsive greed does not mean she is incapable of self-control or constructing long-term schemes to bring her what she craves without the potential political fallout that, in drow society, results in one’s assassination or worse. In the end, her magnetic charisma, irresistibly compelling will, and brilliant intellect will lead her as far as the goddess permits.
Goals
She will pursue the cleric class to 11th-level before taking up the blackguard prestige class. After its mastery, she will continue the path of cleric to epic fruition, by which time she will already be a revered priestess and war-matron, if not city matriarch.
