Tisiphone

Description

Tisiphone of the baatezu makes no effort to hide her devilry. The erinyes may be statuesque and gorgeous, but she's as wicked and monstrous as she is beautiful. Great bat-like pinions spread easily from her back. Baleful burgundy eyes gleam through the night, piercing all shadow to judge and condemn the wicked and saintly alike. Stray bangs of chestnut-brown hair frames her chiseled beauty, while much of those silky tresses are bound back in a single ponytail. The devil-woman stands as high 6'0" and weighs 152 pounds. Much of that is the erinyes' hard-packed muscle, designed to give her retributive activities much more impact. Tisiphone wears very little, relying on her fair skin's infernal devil-heat to ward off assaults of all sorts. Of course, that means her womanly curves are more on display. She wears leather boots up to her knees, the caps sheathed. Straps wind around her flawless form, concealing her private areas with cunning webs of leather. Resting on her chest is an amulet -- a disk of black obsidian, symbolizing her dark faith in evil itself. Perched between her wings is a pack of common gear, a quiver of ash-fletched arrows. A composite long bow carved of some black wood and emblazoned with its own red heat is often clutched in hand: her weapon of preference. Also in easy reach is a length of silk rope, its hue and nature matching the bow. On her left arm is strapped a round shield of fine steel, upon which is engraved a great maw as if the shield would consume all who sought her harm. At her waist is a straight long sword, sheathed until those who dare her wrath can come close enough to warrant its keen edge. Its make is masterful like the rest of her equipment, and its design includes a handle wound about like a serpent, the forked tongue of the snake's head acting as pommel. Though undeniably beautiful and puissant in her physical perfection and divine presence, Tisiphone is clearly a herald of Hell itself.

History

Over 3,500 years ago, Tisiphone nobly served in the highest realm of Celestia. But she was cast down from paradise with all erinyes, falling into the fires of Baator. She became a hateful devil of Hell thereafter. Serving the high lord Asmodeus himself, Tisiphone came to rest in the Stalant Aerie, which many erinyes shared with pit fiends. There she pondered the depths of her fall from grace and the feelings that her punishment boiled up in her empty soul. Tisiphone realized her hate would consume her, and she began to channel it as pure evil. Her dark wisdom and beauty drew the attention of Asmodeus, who determined she should not waste away as some pit fiend's concubine. She served in his court as the Herald of Nessus for many centuries. However, Tisiphone was once imprisoned by Prince Mal of Malbolge. She was tormented and interrogated until she surrendered whatever few secrets of Asmodeus' home to which she was privy. Then Tisiphone was released. Fearing for her existence, certain Asmodeus would destroy her for her forced treachery, she fled across the Nine Hells and into the Astral Plane. There she roamed for many years, until a careless mortal left open a gate to the material realm. With an unearthly shriek, she swept through the portal and battered her way from the wizard's tower, escaping to the freedom of Cael. She found herself in the desert of Verdentia, but she cared little. She was away from Baator at last and could now begin to pursue pure evil, rather than obey the whims of this devil prince or that.

Personality

Tisiphone believes in evil first and the ambitions and schemes of the baatezu second. She serves the essence of evil and no longer does she serve any infernal lord. Tisiphone is willing to sponsor and work with a talented and deserving mortal, but only to promote greater evil in that person's soul -- and the world they affect and visit. By accepting true evil and not the petty ambitions of control most baatezu suffer, Tisiphone hopes to transcend all existence and become like a true god.

Goals

Tisiphone will pursue the Cleric class to mastery (20th level). She may then take up the prestige class of Blackguard or Hierophant.
