Rathshi

Description

Inhuman beauty can be hard to find sometimes, but in this multi-armed demoness, it can be witnessed. Rathshi is a terrifying marilith with six arms and the lower body of a long, great snake. Her exotic face, however, radiates such unblemished, delicate, and maidenly comeliness that the rest of her body is easily forgotten. Of course, it's a mockery of true purity. Her skin is honeyed a warm gold down to her waist, where human features blend into the sparkling, green scales and scutes of a great serpent over twenty-two feet in length from the smooth tip of her supple tail to the midnight-black hair on her head. Rathshi probably weighs 4,500 pounds or more because of her vast serpentine shape, and most of that is raw physical strength, fluid grace, and inexhaustible fortitude. The tanar'ri does not smile or frown, glare or cajole, by the expressionless features of her face. It's a fragile mask of neutral intent, hiding the cruel purpose and calculating fury within. Rathshi's long hair is permitted to flow freely, and drapes down her back or sometimes over her chest. She wears nothing on her humanoid upper torso. This presents well-proportioned breasts and tattoos of Abyssal mystery inscribed between her shoulder blades.

All her arms are identical -- smooth and wiry with honed puissance, each clutching some powerful and sorcerous weapon. Each arm is also decorated with two bangles of silver laced through lapis lazuli. Rathshi's upper arms wear golden bracers inscribed with unholy wards of Abyssal power. A platinum ring set with a black pearl occupies a finger on a central arm. A simple cord of silk winds around her waist, to which various tools and sheathes are attached, including a sack of general equipment and a quiver of red-plumed arrows. Her recurved bow crafted of black cypress is slid through this belt. Her upper right arm clutches a broad shield of black steel, flanged three ways on each side, and covered in sharp spines. Her other upper arm holds a wooden flail with a head of spiked iron, while both middle arms clutch a pair of curved scimitars of especially keen vorpality. Her left lower arm clutches the handle of a sharp punching dagger, while the right holds the haft of a heavy pick that crackles with muted lightning. All of these enchanted weapons bear unholy script etched or emblazoned into their craftsmanship. She wields each with deadly proficiency, no doubt. When calm, Rathshi's eyes are a dark-brown, almost black, filled with empty-hearted precision and calculation. When embattled, the marilith's gaze burns fiery-red, and she becomes a whirling dervish of multi-armed death. Although "merely" a demoness, Rathshi looks every bit the role of some exotic goddess of destruction incarnate.

History

Rathshi knew she was one of the oldest demons in existence at almost 5,300 years of age. For millennia, Rathshi served as a tactician (among other things) to the demon prince, Graz'zt. She advised him and his armies how best to defeat enemies such as the baatezu, celestials, and other tanar'ri. The role grew tiring in time, but she did not leave her post under Graz'zt. While continuing to train, lead, and fight for his forces, Rathshi developed her own masterful fighting abilities and collected her share of grisly trophies and victories. After proving herself for so long, despite her usefulness in that occupation, her prince permitted her to request a different assignment.

So, he let Rathshi be privy to one of his latest terrestial schemes. Tapping the lust and lack of inhibitions most goodly fey enjoyed, the tanar'ri intended to breed a race of half-demon fey who could wipe out the "normal" lot and turn the woodlands of Cael against the long-stout defenders of good (like the elves). He wanted Rathshi to oversee the operation, to insure the first pair of half-fiend fairies joined together, and more importantly, to protect them from sylvan enemies. Rathshi was given one of Graz'zt's favorite succubi assassins and together the two demonesses voyaged through the dimensions to arrive to the nation of Verdentia. In human disguise, they infiltrated the town of Bruce near the forest where the half-fiends languished. Rathshi had her doubts about the success of this scheme, and its ultimate utility as well -- fey were notoriously poor warriors. But Rathshi really couldn't complain either. It was better than trying to teach dretches how to march effectively against baatezu.

Personality

Rathshi comes across as an irresistable force of raw destruction and wanton bloodlust. In the same notion, she can be incredibly sensual and passionate when she wants to be. Forbidden desires of murder and death are her real spheres of interest, however. Nothing excites Rathshi more than standing at the head of a battlefield as the tides of war wash over her. It's not the clash of steel that fascinates her -- although she enjoys whetting her blades on flesh and bone, to be sure -- but the delight of seeing her war plans unfold to successful fruition. And to Rathshi, everything is a battle.

Goals

Rathshi will only ever master the fighter class (20th level+) and continue beyond as an epic soldier and general.
