Description
Luminous beauty sheathed in the finest steel, Lady Raphaela Tantalus stands tall with the pride of her duties as a paladin of the realm. But she is not only human. Her divine heritage is evident in not just her inhumanly fair features and magnetic gaze but the great and functional feathered wings that sprout from her back. The full-bodied plate armor that Raphaela wears was furnished to encompass that twenty-foot wing span. Fiery-red hair is bound up in a great bun on the back of her head to avoid combat threats. Green eyes sweep over the field with both compassion and apprehension. In her left hand, Raphaela clasps a broad concaved shield of triangular design. Engraved on the front is a symbol of the god she serves, Kapponius. Her silvery mail gleams, particularly around the golden crest that illustrates the sun and all its satellites, including this world of Cael. Raphaela's right hand bears a straight long sword of keen craft, the weapon bright with a soft radiance. Hoisted at her hips and rear is her pack of gear and her back up weapons, including a fine bow and a retributive flail. This angelic mortal is ready for battle with all the world's fiends: let them come!
History
Conceived in a rare love between a planetar angel and a noblewoman of priestly virtues, Raphaela was brought into a loving household in 882. Raphaela's mother oversaw all of her upbringing, making sure she received the finest tutelage and training in matters of self-defense and fencing. Raphaela seemed due to enter the priesthood herself, but her divine strength also lent her talent towards the fighting arts. But she never met her father nor received the call to paladinhood until her sixteenth birthday. The angel appeared before her one night and told her what he hoped she would do with her life. Of course, the choice was hers and despite her strange appearance with such a riveting gaze and unavoidable wingspan, she attracted many suitors. Raphaela answered her father's suggestion and heaven's call to duty. She left her loving household to undertake the pilgrimage to the Hall of Kapponius, where all his paladins were trained. In a few years, she mastered the basics and honed her angelic powers. She was soon dispatched to the country's western frontier, where her unusual appearance would not conflict with local demands and her wings would serve her well over the untamed forests and meadows that bordered the elven lands of Chrystana.
Personality
Raphaela's charm and compelling beauty are obvious benefits the half-angel does not restrain. She is not a boisterous or over-talkative woman, but neither is she shy or reserved. The woman takes her duties very seriously, meanwhile, and broaches no insults to her god, the heavens, or her family honor. Raphaela knows she was given many talents to better fulfill her celestial charges. But her power does not go to her head, and she is not arrogant or overconfident. Her humble might will surely rank her among the most fearsome knights of good in the world, and perhaps in other planes, too.
Goals
Raphaela is interested only in pursuing one class, which she will do to mastery and beyond (20th level+) as an Epic Paladin.
