The Rattataki were not a friendly people and their home planet was a brutal world. Poxxun Drum grew up there until clannish conflicts claimed his father's life. His mother, faced with the prospect of being all but slaved out, fled with her son. She stowed away on a Huttese smuggler's freighter; the Weequay expected favors of her for her and her child to stay. Once out of that sector of space, however, she jumped ship and scrubbed cantina tables until she could afford a ticket to the galactic core. The first dirty shuttle she scored got her to the Hosnian system. Poxxun thus received a half-decent chance at life. The slender Rattatak youth went to school (where he excelled at computer programming) and had a chance at a peaceful life.
He didn't take it. Blood called to blood. Poxxun enlisted in the Republic military, where his technical skills, driven attitude, and killer instinct got him far fast. He ended up earning his stripes in short time and transferring from logistics to MI; SIS had plans to poach the Rattatak, but special forces beat them to the punch. Poxxun cut his teeth as the “tech guy” on the Loose Ends squad, an advanced recon unit. The squad was later dismantled during a reshuffling of deployments. By sheer fortune, Poxxun ended up getting assigned to Havoc squad, where he esteemed himself under the command of Cambyos Stormfall against the former Havoc traitors, the imperial army, and other enemies of the state. Whereas Cambyos acted out of duty and patriotism, Poxxun never hid his motives (which were expected of his species anyway): the desire to crush the enemy, to make that enemy bleed, whoever that might be.
