Noromain Fomian

Description

The fact that Noromain Fomian looks like a sea elf puts him at a distinct advantage in several ways. Unfortunately, it also insures that this malenti will never rise high in the strictly hierarchial society of his sahuagin people. Noromain lacks most of his race's standard features, such as the scaly skin, the finned tail, the sharp claws and sharper teeth, and the piscean head. Instead, Noromain looks much more humanoid, even handsome in an alien fashion. This sea devil's skin is thickened with well-developed muscles uncovered by scales, revealing a pale-green and silvery pigmentation. He has hair unlike most sahuagin, and it matches the hue of their sea elf enemies -- a light green that floats about his head like seaweed. He has two legs and two arms like a sea elf, the digits all webbed, while gills breathe behind swept-back ears.

A skilled hunter, Noromain is often clad in a protective shirt of silvery mithral links over a tunic of woven kelp. The chain shirt bears an emblem of a tsunami rushing across the surface of the ocean. Noromain is also typically armed to bear with a trident, spear, short sword, dagger, and a light crossbow, all of which are constructed of the best materials one can find in the sea -- coral, fish bone, shells, kelp, and pearl. He is fantastically well-adapted for his brutal campaign. Really, Noromain is almost impossible to discern from a sea elf save for one giveaway trait. His eyes lack the vibrancy of the elves' wild-hearted nature. Instead, his gaze is empty, heartless, unblinking, and utterly black -- the eyes of a shark…or sahuagin.

History

Noromain Fomian was one of only a few wretched malenti born in his generation 156 years ago. He was mutant offspring, the result of his sahuagin home in Shadowreef, deep in the Sea of Woe, being polluted by the proximity of despicable and useless sea elves. However, the sea devils long ago stopped slaughtering their mutant offspring, realizing they could put them to better use as specialists of some sort. In the case of malenti, that meant infiltration, assassination, and ambush. So Noromain was trained to be a killer of elves and a defender of the sea devils' territorial outer reaches. There he was dispatched once the sahuagin were sure of his loyalty to the race and their god, Sekolah. Truthfully, Noromain despised how he and the few other malenti were handled, expected to appreciate being treated as second-class citizens and border-line slaves. Well, he didn't appreciate it. But instead of rebelling and betraying his race, Noromain made that spite they felt part of him. By incorporating it into his heart, he became stronger, colder, and one day he would become a hero of his people despite what they anticipated. He just knew he'd have to slaughter many enemies to get there.

Personality

Noromain is filled with hate and anger, but he's cold and efficient enough to suppress it. He's not really sure who he should direct his hatred at, honestly. He's actually quite erudite and astute, and not fixed to blame one race or another. But Noromain isn't ready to abandon the sahuagin either. He hopes he can earn the respect they so long denied. Barring that, he might just turn into one of the deadliest predators in the sea, as he hunts both elf and sea devil as close to extinction as his skills could muster.

Goals

Noromain will master the ranger class (20th level) before considering another class, perhaps a Prestige Class such as assassin.
