Mezaj Al-Sha'ir

Description

Tall, dark, and handsome define Mezaj well. He stands at 6'3", weighing over 180 pounds, due to a healthy amount of muscle and grace in his stature. The exotic Yadahnian man appears to be in his late 20s. Despite his actual profession, he opts to wear rich nomadic attire -- silk pantaloons and vest in light browns and burgundy hues. A long dark cloak billows behind the janni, implying a rakish sort of royalty. A scimitar, sheathed at his side, flies easily to hand. And when expecting battle, Mezaj will also often don head-to-toe tanned leather riveted with iron studs. Despite his holy status, Mezaj appears to have no real symbol of holiness. Only a string of prayer beads wound through his belt, nearby other pouches and a scabbarded knife, suggest he is a cleric of ABBA.

History

Descended from the nomadic Nadr Tribe of janni from the land of Yadahn, Mezaj always knew his place. Though a genie in spirit and blood, Mezaj displayed a penitence for a much higher power even from youth. He worshiped ABBA as piously as an old man, as if he recognized the greatness of his god and the importance of knowing the shortness of life early on. The priesthood was a natural choice for Mezaj. Of course, he came to understand the more primal and elemental face of ABBA. He learned the power of God through the elements of the land, like any jann would, and he came to appreciate the fiery wrath and blessings alike of Heaven. After he was ordained in a nomadic ritual, Mezaj was inspired with an even more unusual idea. He took his beliefs and the power of his faith from Yadahn and flew across the ocean. He arrived to the Aria Desert in Estonen, where some of his land's people immigrated long ago. He sought out those nomads in order to bring a refreshed and reinvigorated faith in ABBA. Furthermore, this foreign desert was a wonderful proving grounds by which Mezaj could properly test the strength of his faith!

Personality

Though reverent and pious, Mezaj has the heart of a genie and his rakish side often shows. Whether it's with a prank aimed to teach humility or a deft and deadly swing of his scimitar, Mezaj has little patience for interlopers and villains. But he is no crusader and does not seek to spread the religion of ABBA. All he wants to do is protect those who do worship ABBA from the heathen influences of this barbaric land. For himself, Mezaj hopes to become a vital influence on his people who live in the region, and help guide them to prosperity and wisdom.

Goals

Mezaj will pursue the Cleric class to the 10th level or so before multi-classing as a Rogue or Fighter. He will pursue that class to the 10th level, then master the Cleric class (20th level) and then master his secondary class (to 20th level). A third class will be pursued after that (Fighter or Rogue, depending) and maximized over time (to the 20th level).
