Krazor Stumpfist

Description

As green as a troll and hairy as a yeti, Krazor Stumpfist confuses most who first see him. His flesh, though it ripples with gigantic muscle, spreads hirsute layer over most of his enormous ten-foot-tall body. He marches barefoot with a lurch, less from an awkwardness and more out of custom of ducking branches. The beast himself resembles an old oak tree: stout and gnarled, with fists like hewn stumps. Long dark hair, wild and unkempt, serves as a barbaric crown. Rarely does Krazor done more than a loincloth if even that; his body hair covers his modesty effectively. The flat-nosed, broad-boned features of his face pale against the glimmer in his black eyes. They glint far more attentively and thoughtfully than one might imagine. This sylvan monster stands as neither troll nor treant, but an ogre – though certainly not a common one.

History

Krazor Stumpfist began his life as most ogres did: in blood and violence, viciousness and boorishness. His parents belonged to the same small tribe of such monsters and mated as a matter of course. Krazor was raised in the ogre way, though his unusually keen mind and disinterest in usual ogre things (smashing things smaller than oneself) ensured he would perhaps become an ogre cleric if not chieftain. But neither role became his destiny. He cut his teeth, so to speak, fighting alongside fellow ogres against humans, orcs, and hobgoblins who sought to slay or enslave his tribe. But his courage was not limited to those smaller than he. When a pack of hill giants descended upon his tribe, he proved key in driving them back. When the forest began to torment his ogre tribe, which dwelled in the neighboring foothills of the Sonodell Mountains, he alone ventured into that heart of darkness.

And when Krazor did so, he was not cut to pieces by elves or tormented by fey. Instead, he was visited by sylvan spirits. A great white stag lured him deep into the pristine forest. He moved swiftly but with care uncharacteristic to most ogres, as if Krazor respected the trees and brush more than he did men or giants. The stag led him into a sacred glade, where emerged men and elves and others, all of whom spoke to him softly, reassuring him that his coming had been foreseen. So did the Society of Meliai initiate Krazor into their druidic ranks. Over the next few years, Krazor proved himself a most attentive student – and steadfast protector -- of the sylvan world. His old tribe had been forgotten, along with the jealous cretins who peopled it. His new tribe was the forest and all its denizens and friends. His enemies? Those who would destroy it. Krazor battled trolls, orcs, goblins, kobolds, predatory beasts who didn’t belong, and, yes, even humans. All sought to exploit the forest. All fell to or fled from the wrath of Krazor Stumpfist and his most trusted and sole friend, Knagh the wolf. Krazor nursed Knagh back to health after the fierce beast picked a nasty fight with a brown bear over a deer carcass. Now, the two remained inseparable.

Personality

Krazor Stumpfist likes to live a simple life. He finds no interest in amassing wealth or treasure and gives away to the Meliai all that he doesn’t find practical or useful. The beastly druid is well-thought of in druidic circles, albeit unknown beyond them. Even the wood elves have not heard of him, though invariably their paths will cross.

Goals

Krazor will pursue the druid path alone for now, perhaps considering a hierophant role should he reach that far. However, life events may shunt him a different direction, and he may take up the traditional ogre role as barbarian.
