Kinus Vom

Description

Massive, shaggy, and terrifying, Kinus Vom is a monster of hoof and horn, muscle and mass. The minotaur towers over eight feet tall and long auburn hair thickens his thick limbs. Huge hands clasp a spiked mace and circular wooden shield, while oaken hooves clomp the monster into view. The skin of other beasts has been fashioned and cured into decent armor. Thick black hair curls from his scalp and this mane traces down his back beneath the protection. The eye is drawn sooner, however, to Kinus’s impressive horns. The black bone extrudes from his temples like two polished ivory, and curves upwards into cruelly hooked tips. Yet, Kinus’s ugly minotaur features contrast with this savage appearance. A gentle smile sets his frightening appearance at a perturbing ease. That disquieting quiet is further reflected in the monster’s black eyes, the shape of which is softened. Only a gentle serenity is wrought in Kinus Vom’s features. What sort of monster is this?

History

Kinus Vom obviously did not lead a normal life for a minotaur. His father made the stupid mistake of prowling into the Rooted Forest of Shadowsnipe in search of easy prey for the young Kinus to cut his teeth on killing. Unfortunately, a green dragon put an end to that. To Kinus’s surprise, the green dragon showed compassion and took the youth under wing, so to speak. In Shadowsnipe, not only were the trees upside-down, the inhabitants of the forest were backwards, too. The good green dragon raised Kinus as his own son, helping the minotaur get in touch with his primordial side. Years later, Kinus had so many friends among the fey and other denizens of the woods that taking up druidism was almost inevitable. He submitted to the supernatural forest priests while remaining connected (through his surrogate father’s lair) to his underground roots. Once he was accepted into the druidic order and received his fundamental training, Kinus was sent away. Shadowsnipe needed no more druids, but Trachen Woods to the north did. Through back roads and forest trails, Kinus departed his extended family and sought a new one.

Personality

Kinus is not a savage monster like most minotaurs. He has found a sort of serenity and harmony with nature that his species perhaps, in some primordial era, once had. He is difficult to rouse to anger, though once one succeeds, instincts take over and he is a terror in battle. However, he is more likely to be seen cavorting with cute little bunnies than he is squashing interlopers.

Goals

Kinus will pursue the druid class until 12th-level (minimum) before taking up the hierophant prestige class. Once that class is mastered, he will return to the druid class to bring it to epic mastery.
