Kamal Al-Riya
Description
A dignified and exotic sun elf of sagely warmth, Kamal al-Riya manages to maintain his robes as pure white. Red trim and golden rope binds the priest's robes, but they bulge with the lightweight chain shirt underneath. Kamal seems to also always maintain his calm and thoughtful repose. He appears to be in his late 20s, and keeps his appearance conservative with short-trimmed black hair. His tanned, sculpted features are classic of elvish heritage, as are the man's canted ears and emerald eyes. He stands no higher than 5'3", weighing not even 120 pounds. When girded for defense, Kamal will carry a small wooden shield and unsheathe his scimitar. But his blessed prayer beads come first to his hand before bloodshed. Kamal may embody the righteousness of ABBA, but that includes compassion for life first, and a thirst for infidel blood a distant second.
History
Almost 150 years ago, Kamal was born into a good family renowned for their mystical heritage. Indeed, his father was a masterful evoker -- a flame wizard. The old elf rivaled a fellow white robe, a human wizard, in trying to invent new and improved spells. Kamal, and his family, witnessed that unfortunate man fall prey to his own arrogance, however. The man invented a wonderful new flying spell that took him higher and faster…but he flew too high and his body perished in the airless stratosphere. "ABBA struck him down with the radiance of the sun", his father said. Kamal, already a reverent youth, was inspired to even greater faith in recognition of the old wizard's lack of penitence. At adolescence, Kamal attended the sun elves' seminary to become a priest of the One God. Like most elves, his faith in a higher power was tempered by his love of nature and its gifts. He respected ABBA as the sun and fire, as the great purifier. Kamal was soon possessed with a fiery faith that no form of temptation could shake. During his final tests, a spectre of a succubus sought to lure him from the right path. But Kamal stayed true. After ordainment, he served his elven people as a compassionate and intelligent shepherd. At the same time, Kamal learned the fiercer side of the divine elements he sought to emulate. He learned how to defend the weak and uphold the truth through sword and bow. Never a crusader, Kamal was nevertheless an ardent defender of his faith against evil infidels.
Personality
Kamal's most notable trait is his unshakable faith in ABBA. He offers sagacity and keen awareness, too. The sun elf is discerning and patient, yet fervent and passionate. Kamal also works hard to stay hearty, the better to survive the unforgiving climate of Yadahn and the enemies of the One God.
Goals
Kamal will master the Cleric class (20th level) before possibly considering a prestige class as Hierophant.
