Jawda ab-Aqil

Description

Tall for an elf, young Jawda ab-Aqil members the exotic race known as the sun elves of Yadahn. Standing at 5’5”, weighing about 115 pounds, Jawda’s aquiline features give him the look of a falcon seeking prey. His golden skin is smooth and unblemished. Black hair is trimmed short, though his bangs are permitted to fall looser, framing fiery green eyes. Jawda commands a sure gait and noble bearing, and his expression is typically cold and wary. He wears a fine white robe over loose brown trousers and a shirt of light chain links, which a wiry and agile form fills easily. The hem of the robe suffers from the dust of the robe, as do his tall black boots. Curved blades come readily to hand, suffering not an infidel to comment about his foreign appearance. The holy symbol of the crescent moon hanging about his neck displays his monotheistic faith: devotion to ABBA, the One True God. Arrogance may be the first impression one has about Jawda and it may stick. But his true nature is shown in his gentlemanly acts and just beliefs, which soon come to bear whenever he is confronted by wickedness and inequity.

History

One of the largest cities in Yadahn (and indeed, the world) was Qudra, and it was here where the ab-Aqil Clan reigned as nobles. The sun elves co-existed with other decent races, all of whom who paid worship to the One True God. Jawda felt that faith burn in him from childhood. His land was always tested by devilish monsters. He used to be afraid of the night, of the raiding savages that would attack the outskirts of the city where the elves dwelled in nomadic camps. And one night the raiders did come, braving the sun elves’ war-might. Jawda found himself surprisingly unafraid! He was inspired with lion-like bravery from ABBA, and the young elf protected his home. An invader broke in, but he protected his mother and stabbed the intruder to death. But their camp was ruined, their society damaged. Art was burnt and fellow elves murdered, including young Arina, an elf-girl that Jawda shyly admired. These atrocities filled Jawda with rage and determination to end evil. He left home for the bigger city, there to join the order of holy warriors, the askars. But after ordainment, Jawda was endowed with a quest he did not expect. He was dispatched north to the barbaric continent of infidels, Estonen. There he was to reach the elvenfolk native to that land and appeal to them for an alliance. Jawda was instructed to at least discover where his Estonen kin stood in the war on evil. Reluctantly and warily, Jawda accepted and by ship traveled along commercial lanes. His journey took him into the land of Elan, where he would seek contact with the fair folk of Estonen.

Personality

Noble and determined, Jawda also comes off as aloof and wary. His religious intolerance is politely hidden behind a diplomatic visage. But even if Jawda doesn’t approve of the Estonens’ polytheism, he does not cast judgment (in part because of his diplomatic mission). Besides, he may not approve of others’ beliefs, but that doesn’t change the fact that he remains just and compassionate. His quiet, respectful, and smooth-spoken ways may even garner a few converts before the day is out. The punishment of his blades, meanwhile, are reserved only for the wicked.

Goals

Jawda will only master the paladin class and take it beyond (20th-level+) to epic levels.
