Hutotl Nuf

Description

Hutotl Nuf stands out among his feared species of yuan-ti. This pureblood isn't exactly pure-blooded. His body is fuller, rounded with greater muscle and a more barrel-like torso. Indeed, he could be mistaken at first glance for a half-blood. Instead of an olive-green shade to his skin, Hutotl's flesh is tougher and blue-green. He cuts all his black hair save a long braid-like topknot that extends from the center of his scalp and flows down his back. The creature evinces some serpentine features, including the occasional scute or scale that appears along a bare arm or his leg. While Hutotl lacks a tail, and stands on two humanoid legs, his tongue is long and forked like a snake's and deadly fangs are noticeable. His eyes are an eery electric blue, as if supercharged with energy. Indeed, a faint scent of ozone accompanies his every sibilant syllable. However, the perturbing creature able to still effect fear and obedience in those around him with clear if monstrous speech. At ease, Hutotl wears a leather tunic dyed midnight blue and etched with entwined snakes and dragons. Always, a silver medallion of Tevu dangles around his neck. When expecting battle, however, he dons flexible leather armor set with steel studs and embroidered with gold threads that form intricate serpentine designs on the cuirass. A half-cylinder shaped steel shield is held in clawed hands while a stiff oak morningstar with fang-like tines extending from the bronze ball is clutched in his right hand.

History

In the northwestern jungles of Yadahn, the city of Bariya stood. Beneath it boiled a secret colony of yuan-ti, the Nuf Tribe. These wicked folk occasionally kidnapped humans and used them to assist their breeding habits, producing purebloods. Hutotl's heritage partially derived from that vicious legacy, but he also could boast an even finer birthright. His mother befriended and even mated with a ferocious blue dragon known as Be'etzl that allied with the Nufs years ago. While that dragon eventually went its own way, it left the pureblood yuan-ti with child. Hutotl was born 28 years ago as a result of that joining. Despite his obvious draconian blood, he was treated no better or worse than any other pureblood. Hutotl learned and trained in the war arts and psychic powers that all yuan-ti develop.

However, he defied expectations of most purebloods. Perhaps due to his draconian background, the yuan-ti abomination priests who led the Nufs accepted his ardent request. He yearned to serve Tevu, the god of the yuan-ti, in a fashion similar to the abomination clerics. Of course, he accepted that he would always yield to the abominations' authority, regardless of how Tevu rewarded his faith. Hutotl agreed and underwent the scholarly indoctrination that normally only abominations undertake. Some of it was quite painful, and a pureblood could not normally have survived… Luckily, he was stronger in body and mind than most purebloods. He proved he had the mind, body, and will to dutifully serve Tevu. Approved as the first pureblood cleric of the Nuf Tribe, Hutotl sank into his role with a deeper sense of purpose and ferocity few yuan-ti demonstrate. While still cold and measured in his cunning plans and goals, he enjoyed tormenting those weaker than himself -- particularly humans -- more than most. It was no wonder he soon developed a small entourage of human slaves, all of which possessed skills useful to the yuan-ti, and all of which were dominated by Hutotl. He enjoyed his status, and secretly hoped to one day control the priestly activities in his tribe…even if it meant unseating the abominations.

Personality

Hutotl is evil to the bone. He's cruel and domineering, using his hatred to fuel his wiles and penetrating understanding of metaphysics to enslave even the wise and shrewd of "lesser races". He hungers especially to dominate his own kind, however, desiring to be a leader, a king, to garner the respect and even reverence he knows he deserves. There are few redeeming qualities about Hutotl beside his manipulative capacity to persuade others to do even wicked things, his unquestionable faith to Tevu (even if it is a diabolic belief), and his loyalty to his race despite his draconian heritage.

Goals

Hutotl will continue the tradition of the cleric only (to 20th level) before taking up the Prestige Class of hierophant.
