Hakon Reff
Description
This handsome and strong-bodied young man appears almost human. Hakon Reff wears a full tunic in sylvan colors, over which he dons a fine dark green cloak and a silvery shirt of fine mithral links that almost glow in the right ambience. Also when prepared for battle, Hakon brings a marvelous long sword and unbattered but crestless shield into play. He also favors a short bow crafted of heartwood oak and etched with Sylvan sigils. His blonde hair and beard are kept well groomed and his blue eyes twinkle with an enigmatic, mischievous light. As noted, Hakon appears largely human, especially in height and weight, which are average for a man of his superb musculature. The determination that can set in his gaze combined with his masculine forcefulness likewise illustrate human heritage. But his rustic charm combined with the light cant of his ears depicts a more fey lineage; perhaps Hakon is half-elf. And that assumption suits him just fine, even though others may wonder why Hakon Reff almost never strays from his waterfall home…
History
Hakon Reff was conceived 79 years ago in the Sahas Woods of Elan. His mother was a knight's daughter, betrothed to another knight. His father was a fossergrim, a fey being of enchanting musical talent and a connection to a certain small waterfall and the pool it formed. Their romance was brief but it was enough to make the young woman pregnant. She was married the knight not long after and when she gave birth, her fey son was raised as the knight's son. All knightly means of conduct, including swordplay and humanities, were instilled in the youth. Yet when he came of age, Hakon was suddenly overcome with the urge to leave civilization right away and seek out a waterfall. And so he ran away from home, entering the Sahas Woods and claiming the first waterfall he found. He did not know it was his real father's home, nor realize that his real father was dead by the cruelty of passing orcs. They did not find Hakon's father's secret stash and the youth discovered the beautiful sword, bow, mithral chain shirt, and other treasures once he started to settle. Neighboring sprites visited their new fey friend, and helped him adjust to his new life. Soon Hakon settled into his new life, enjoying music and the relaxing and easygoing existence of the faerie world. Not once did he regret leaving home or his mother. He ceased aging when he first felt the urge to flee society; he suspects his mother was dead by now. And that was when Hakon began to wonder if he, too, should find a lovely maiden to enchant and mate.
Personality
Hakon is a talented bard, possessing a good nature and an acceptance of some of the knightly codes of conduct instilled before his coming of age. He's honorable and dedicated, yet charming and romantic. His attentive behavior extends to his whole world, giving him more of a sense of belonging than other more frolicky fey. Of course, he's bound to his waterfall and will never be able to go far. But within his domain, Hakon is like the noble that his surrogate father wanted him to be.
Goals
Hakon is content pursuing the Bard class to mastery (20th level+) and beyond, as an epic musician.
