Gyles Cobbler

Description
Tall, dark, and handsome defines Gyles well enough. Unfortunately, the thuggish killer emphasizes the "dark" part much more than the rest. Well-built and forceful in appearance, the young human favors blacks in his urban attire and leather mail. Gyles keeps his mousy-brown hair clipped short, the bangs curtaining his cold, glittering brown eyes. A variety of weapons might be found on his person if his cloak and other garments are frisked, but he will at least carry his deadly punch daggers in easy reach at all times.
History
Gyles' world was largely limited to Verdentia's great harbor city, Porte. There he was born in 885 and grew up in a normal underclass working family. At first, Gyles accepted the poor quality of life that the Cobblers suffered. But as time passed, he grew angry and envious of his "fellow" man's wealth and how the rich so often flaunted it so boldly. He turned to petty larceny, avoiding his father's failing blacksmithy, so that Gyles too could enjoy the nice things of life. He might have made a good town guard if not a smith, for the Cobbler boy inherited his father's broad shoulders and strength. Instead, Gyles taught himself a bit of swordplay and knife-fighting. Eventually, his street brawling and minor crimes drew the attention of a local thieves' guild, the feared Black Saints. The guild earned its name for the occasional choice assassination of opposing guilds' leaders, stunning competition into quiescence. Gyles found that he blended right into this "prestigious" outfit, and set up for a life that began as extortionist and thug. Perhaps one day Gyles would progress to become one of the guild's cunning killers-for-hire.
Personality
Mean as a snake and more vicious than a hobgoblin, this rogue is more cutthroat than cutpurse. Gyles understands the power of might makes right and recognizes the dangers of wealth: it will always be coveted by those without. So he strives to make himself a force to be reckoned with and a purposeful villain: one who enforces these common ethics of reality. Without violence, there's no peace; without want, there's no have's; without death, there's no life. And Gyles will cajole, charm, cull, and kill anyone in his path to prove these points -- to himself -- and become the most feared assassin and wealthiest rogue in the world.
Goals
Gyles will pursue the Rogue class to 10th level, then become an Assassin. After mastering that class (to 10th level), he will return to master the Rogue class to 20th level and beyond.
