Geoda -- "Ribbon"

Description

Like some great mass of a crystal formation, Geoda suddenly shifts and thereby illustrates his well-defined features. His entire body must weigh close to 30,000 pounds and is sheened in translucent, buttery-white scales that permit only a vague glimpse of dark flesh under impenetrable rock-like armor. The glass dragon's long tail, summing up a body length over thirty feet, whips languidly back and forth. The end of his tail is tipped in a thick bush of protruding, crystalline spikes. Geoda's head is horned in a similar fashion. In both cases, the arrangement of protrusions is sharp, angular, and straight. Claws as deadly as diamond blades flex and reflect the same apparent material as the drake's impressive maw. Even his wings seem to be made of a thin, glassy material, but are quite supple and fit for flight. In the right light, the dragon's whole body glitters as iridescent as a rainbow. Embedded in his crown of crystalline horns lies a silvery jewel that radiates the dragon's faith in some power greater than himself. Despite his faith, Geoda always comports himself with pride nonetheless. Almost like they were part of his body, around his lower forelegs are clasped great platinum bracers, etched with motifs of invulnerable golems and magical protection. Spinning around the crown of horns on his head are a pair of tiny crystals, as if a couple tiny scales had come loose but lingered in orbit around the dragon's powerful mind. Always are Geoda's eyes a dull-black save for a keen, white pupil that blazes with inner heat and sagacity. Never wavering, it's evident that this dragon is ready for any threats to the right way of doing things: his way.

When Geoda sees fit to assume a humanoid shape, he takes on the appearance of a mature human gentleman clad in the gray robes of a judge. He is better known as Ribbon at this time. He maintains well-groomed black hair and beard while his features are fair, even pale like that of a scholar or a man who always lives inside. However, he fits his garments fully, demonstrating his powerful physique and confident grace. Ribbon's corded belt reveals only a few nameless pouches. A glint of silver under his robe's lapels reveals the symbol of his service to Xaon. The two ioun stones continue circling the dragon head in this form, too, the clear and dusty rose crystals adding to his mystical puissance. As preternaturally advanced as he seems, always Ribbon stays polite and eloquent, commanding an urbane mien even in the face of danger. The handsome fellow seems perpetually calm, introspective, and shrewd while not sly. His piercing black eyes radiate the inner reflection of his great heart and mind, as if those glassy scales were simply turned inwards to take this human shape.

History

Exactly 281 years ago, Geoda was born deep in the earth far from all Underworld societies. Geoda and his two siblings were raised by their mother in an orderly fashion, learning the ways of the glass dragons and the realities of the treacherous Underworld. Despite his strict upbringing, as he matured he was encouraged to find his own path in life. Caution was advised and the seeking should be conducted in a balanced fashion, his mother warned. Geoda strayed from his mother's expansive lair but not her counsel. He began to explore the many caverns and halls of the Underworld. Over many decades, Geoda ran into many dangers and greedy enemies, mostly humanoids such as the duergar and drow. To friends and foes alike, he became known as Ribbon, because ribbons were all that remained of those that suffered his terrible wrath. Those he conquered their treasure he claimed for himself.

Thus was born Geoda's own hoard and the forging of his own lair, kept for the purpose of maintaining balance in the wealth of the world rather than enjoying his own monies. (Of course, some of that wealth was pretty to look at.) Regardless, the Underworld seemed to yield bountiful wealth to greedy miners. Geoda wondered how he would work to restore monetary balance in the dark and antisocial societies of the Underworld. That was when he was approached in a waking vision by the god of wealth, Xaon. Xaon showed him what could become of the Underworld if action was not taken. And what better way to take action that represent a deity whose realm of influence was wealth and its fair distribution? Geoda agreed to dedicate himself to the role Xaon foresaw for the glass dragon. With this new path ahead, the drake began to venture further abroad, even to the surface at times, and always to execute the laws of the earth and its bounty.

Personality

Geoda is always judging others and himself, though he isn't overly judgmental. He maintains a sense of fairness and carefully weighs all of his decisions. He's still quite cautious and a little distrustful of humanoids of all sorts. His sagacity and insightful measure will aid him well in his lofty goal of seeing all wealth be allotted fairly, so that no society hoards too much. While such a thing may never happen in the whole world, Geoda is powerful enough to strike a balance in his locality…and enforce it.

Goals

Geoda will master the Cleric class (20th level+) and consider a Prestige Class such as Hierophant or Loremaster.
