Esan K'bas
Description
At 5'4", Esan K'bas stands fairly tall for an elf. But then, the deep elves of the coldest ocean depths are known for the greater height and ancient wisdom hidden away behind quicksilver gazes. Esan is no exception. His good-looking, sculpted features are drawn into an expression of perpetual solemn vigilance. Like all sea elves, Esan bears unblemished emerald-green skin and long, flowing hair that matches this hue. He's a young and healthy sea elf on top of it, and typically well armed. Esan wears sharkskin leather mail set with bronze studs, and two seahorses facing each other are dyed on the cuirass as his personal emblem. Esan would not wear footwear or hand wear, however, to offer his webbed digits full utility. He also totes a sturdy coral shield, the edges spined decoratively and functionally. A crossbow hangs from the belt cord about his waist and a fishbone trident is clutched in hand. His argent eyes search the depths for trouble, and this ranger swims right to it, prepared to protect his people at any cost.
History
In 756 AK, as the surface folk kept count, Esan was born to the K'bas Clan of Cyis. Cyis, the City of Lanterns, was a beautiful deep sea elf dwelling located far in the North Devios Ocean, away from all other civilizations (though they kept cordial contact with the nearest societies of merfolk and locathah). His family long bore the proud heritage as Defenders of Light, and he was raised to enjoin that honor. It was a role Esan accepted without argument, pleased that he would be so well respected and lauded for his career. He fulfilled his training by his early 120s and went on to join the ranks of the Defenders of Light. He served admirably for many years, keeping a sharp lookout for their most despicable enemy, the sahuagin. But he survived no serious encounters and began to wonder if his profession would be as illustrious as the stories told. When strange rumors circulated about evil things rising through the Blackheat Currents, however, Esan was proud that he was chosen to be the first scout to investigate. Sure, he knew his life was on the line, that he was really cannon fodder for this assignment. But he was chosen because he had what it took to succeed, and he would not let his family or race down.
Personality
Esan is steady and wise, brave and clever, swift and strong -- all the qualities that produce a fine (and more liable to survive) ranger. The young elf is not too young, and he's more than ready to take on any threats that might endanger his people. Esan is much too adventurous to think about a family of his own yet, however. As for surface-dwellers…pff, who needs them? Cyis is far from regular shipping channels and he's never even seen a land-dweller. Besides earning a reputation, Esan's biggest ambition right now is to tame some wondrous sea-beast to use as an ally or even a mount in his duties.
Goals
Esan will master the ranger class (20th level+) and continue on as an epic Defender of the Light.
