El Lualifal
Description
Most drow embrace darkness in both style and practice. But El Lualifal prefers his deep, earthy browns. The dragonbone-studded leather cuirass weaves silvery thread into fanciful and chaotic whorls on his chest. The leather pauldrons bear the insignia of House Vae. Numerous weapons hang from his belt. A somber cloak largely covers this arsenal and a cowl often masks his indisputably drosalvir features. The iron-gray skin of his sylvan profile bears a serious expression with grim carbuncle-like eyes. He binds his hair back in taut silver braids. These are not hyperbolic adjectives: El looks literally part-elemental. The grace by which stone and tree alike part before him further highlights his attuned mastery. This dark elflord is clearly not to be trifled with. However reluctantly, the world bows to him.
History
Certain expectations of male drow often result in their untimely demises. Only those with skill and the real promise of talent survived long. El Lualifal did just that in the major drow city of Terrazhan. Raised in House Vae to parents who perished when he barely hit adolescence, he honed those abilities. His natural skill with communing with and subjugating of his surroundings made him a natural choice for the dark elf druidic tradition. But as a member of Vae, he had to learn to put those skills to use in the wrangling of potential slaves for drow civilization. El took to the profession with callous verve and spend decades of loyal service to the matrons. He rounded up escaped thralls and hunted down new potential servants. He stalked the rocky tunnels of the deeps and crept through the shadowed forests without fear of the light-borne peoples. El drove back hungry dragons and cut giants’ throats. He led raids on whole human or elf cities and defeated countless heroes and knights to achieve his goals.
And that goal was to lead his house, at least in Terrazhan. Oh, he knew the title would always belong to a matron. But he could be the power-behind-the throne. To that end, as he cut and cleft his way through the enemies of the drow, he endeared himself to the leaders of his community and the rank-and-file soldiers beneath him. He became renowned for having a brilliant mind that adapted non-standard drow tactics and that did not waste his troops to achieve a victory only he enjoyed. But always, El kept his eyes on the goal—a crown of blood.
Personality
Ambitious, driven, ruthless, and brilliant, El does not end lives without reason. When it best serves Terrazhan, he kills. When it best serves the drow and Sivarnatta, he kills. When it best serves himself, he kills. And he’s grown very good at it. But the older and more experienced he becomes, El has learned that mercy and subjugation is far more useful than pointless murder. His druidic background partly informs this attitude, but he’s drow to the bone. Nature exists to serve the goddess and, by extension, her chosen people. He respects what nature can do and does do, and that reverence runs deep to the core of the earth. El knows that the spark of life is borne from blood and suffering.
Goals
El will continue his dual-classing as a druid/ranger until he’s epically mastered both (20th+).
