Dolf Wim

Description

Dolf Wim is tall, dark, and not-so-handsome. What can one expect with orcish breeding in his blood? Dolf's skin is toned gray and his black hair is bristly-thick, though cut short. Dolf even sports a mustache and goatee, both of which are fairly well-groomed. Indeed, he doesn't smell too bad for his kind. Dolf's muscled body is typically encased in flexible leather armor studded with shiny steel rivets. A thick leather cap clasps around his head, the strap buckled under his chin and shadowing all but his dark, fierce, and purposeful gaze. Unlike many half-orcs, however, a calm strength pervades his powerful body. The double axe he totes over a shoulder comes readily to grip, and no doubt he can cut ribbons through his enemies without having to tap his dark side for some raging psychosis. Under his armor, a dark burgundy tunic is hinted at, the color evident under the skirt of the armor and above his thick black leather boots. A backpack with common wilderness gear is strapped to his broad back. The half-orc is marching through the world without fear or shame of who and what he is.

History

Rast Swamp of Western Darsix didn't have a large orc or human population. But members of both species occasionally passed by or through. Dolf Wim's mother was the daughter of a merchant family that was all traveling by when an orc raiding party assaulted them, managed to overwhelm the men-at-arms, and kill just about everyone. The men put up a good fight, slaying most of the orcs, so only a handful got to enjoy the spoils. Dolf's mother was one of those spoils, hauled off to serve as a breeding toy for one of the raiders. She suffered under the yoke of that slavery no doubt, and Dolf wasn't the only child she bore.

But Dolf proved to be the smartest. After years of mistreatment from other orcs and even from his mother, who hated her own children that she was forced to bear for the monster that enslaved her, he ran away. He bore many scars and lashes on his back from life among orckind, but he fled all the same to the nearest human town. They accepted the poor but strong-backed youth, putting him to common labor uses in exchange for his adoption. In time, he was permitted to attend local fighting seminars for the town guard, and he developed an affinity for the use of an axe. Indeed, he grew physically primed in every fashion, and became a full-time member of the town guard for a few years. But the desire to see what happened to his siblings and parents, to perhaps apologize and face his fate, eventually drove Dolf to take up a traveling path. He returned to Rast Swamp but found no trace of the semi-permanent encampment the orcs set up there. Everyone was gone. Alone and only 19 years old, Dolf pondered what to make of his life now, having abandoned both "tribes" he ever knew.

Personality

Dolf is a quiet guy who takes pride in what he is and who he has become. The nature of his heritage does not bother him and he bears no grudges against orcs or men. But he's no fool, and aware that orcs and men may not like him. At this point, Dolf is focused on developing his inner and outer strength and skills so that he can at least take care of himself. He figures he's going to be alone for awhile.

Goals

Dolf lacks any desire to pursue classes that involve a higher intellect or spiritual understanding. But he's also found some measure of peace within, ruling out the likelihood of ever tapping the rage of the barbarian class. Dolf will happily master the skills of the fighter class (20th level+) and beyond as an epic warrior.
