Devalos Viir

Description
A rich, royal purple robe of the finest silk materials wraps up this gray elf's graceful form. Devalos stands 5'5" and weighs about 130 pounds, boasting sculpted features and canted ears. Though not the most handsome of elves, his sagacity and savvy burns through his liquid-violet gaze. It's illustrated in the various pouches with pungent scents arranged on his rope-like belt. His golden hair is trimmed short in a traditional fashion, swept back from his pale face. The evoker seems defenseless, but his regal pride is defended well with the mere inflection of a few devastating words…
History
Devalos Viir was a star pupil among the gray elves of Elevincia. Elevincia stood in a mountainous realm in northern Hale. Devalos developed in a prosperous family of merchants among these isolative gray elves. Even from childhood, he demonstrated a keen aptitude for academic matters both exoteric and esoteric. He was destined to be a mage. In fact, he dreamed of calling the stars down from the sky as only an archmage might. Devalos told his family early on not to count on him staying around Felhara. He would want to explore the world and "find the stars" of his dreams. Devalos excelled in the wizardly academy those with talent were sent to. He displayed masterful command of the elements. Devalos was clearly an evoker and knew he would have to leave Elevincia when he was old enough to master his art away from the isolation of home. The Neidriels, who long ago helped a grugach family immigrate and handle all their financial woes, had taken those wild elves' daughter as payment. Xilo owed the Viirs a life debt for what they did for her family. So when Devalos was ready to leave Elevencia, Xilo's combat training in the legions of Elevencia was finally to be put to use. No longer would she just be a maid in the Viir household. She accompanied Devalos beyond their home and on their great adventure together.
Personality
Devalos is as arrogant as one can presume gray elves to be. He holds himself above all others, including other elves, because on top of being a more ancient and wiser race, he's a well-trained wizard. The elements of the world are at his beck, and though he doesn't get off on power, that power is heady all the same. Thankfully, Devalos is not a foolish man. He knows he's a beginner all the same and that he's at risk of death if he lets his pride really go to his head. He may sometimes behave arrogant, but more often he's just cautious and aloof. Ultimately, Devalos is a good elf, and intends to use the power he gains to destroy evil.
Goals
Devalos will master the Wizard class as an Evoker (20th level), then join the ranks of White Mages as a Cabalist (and work up to 10th level in this prestige class).
