Cyrus Mar
Description
The most noble leonine creature one can expect to see in Cael marches into view. The lammasu is easily eight and a half feet long from head to tail, and almost 550 pounds of muscle. Great feline paws tread the earth -- when gorgeous gold-plumed wings aren't spreading to their twenty-foot length and lifting Cyrus Mar up to the horizon. Those wings are even brighter than the lammasu's tawny fur and illustrious bronzen mane. But the oddest and most divine feature of the lammasu is his face. Instead of a leonine muzzle, Cyrus instead commands a handsome and chiseled humanoid face. Lacking whiskers or fur on this visage, Cyrus' skin is still tinted a divine gold. His eyes are ablaze with that celestial wealth, filled with wisdom, humanity, and passion beyond reckoning. However, a few pieces of tangible treasure are evident. Almost hidden in the fur of his front right paw glimmers a tiny gold ring set with a sunstone, which was slipped onto a short feline digit. Clasped to Cyrus' forepaws just above the arches is a pair of bronze bracers inscribed with ancient and draconic sigils. Finally, as if engraved into his very flesh, is set on his chest a symbol of gold, its symmetrical etchings depicting the sign of the great god, Cameatt, whom Cyrus serves.
History
As old as an elf in his prime, Cyrus Mar was born in 771 AK to loving lammasu parents, deep in the craggy eyries of the Hyrus Mountains. This small Artos range benefited from the protection of good dragons, so Cyrus had little to fear from enemies while he was a cub for so many decades. Maturing as slowly as elves and dragons, Cyrus learned much from his parents, especially his mother who stayed closer. He was taught about Heaven and Hell, and about the lammasu's duties to this world of Cael. A sense of obligation and compassion was instilled in this magical beast even from youth. Cyrus still yearned for more, however. He wanted to know what it was like to live a challenging life. So he began to compete with other beasts of the land, even a young gold dragon of the region. As Cyrus neared his transition age to adulthood, he had a dreamed epiphany one night. He saw it as his unique duty to come and serve the god of fair competition and bold battle, Cameatt. His father served Kapponius, but Cyrus did not feel called to uphold holy righteousness. The wild called to him more. So he took wing and left home, flying further north along the Artos-Chrystana border until his intuition -- or perhaps divine inspiration -- led him to a forgotten temple in the overgrown forest. The Ballas Temple of Cameatt was one of the few halls built to honor the god of strength and fair play. There he met with an avatar of Cameatt himself, who appointed the lammasu as the Ballas Temple's guardian and his holy representative in Cael. Cyrus heartily agreed and began to patrol the region nearby as well. He watched over men, halflings, and elves who shared land in this region, and made sure all competitive affairs in the wilderness were performed fairly. Even among such good folk, Cyrus knew he had his work cut out for him!
Personality
Cyrus is good-natured and passionate, but he is not a gentle-spirited and quiet individual. As a cleric of Cameatt, he's competitive and excitable -- though never to a point of rage. Cyrus does get angry, however, especially when he sees any acts of evil or, within the framework of a game or sport, cheating. And when Cyrus gets angry, he never hesitates to act while some lammasu might counsel patience. However, this lammasu was gifted with a great intuition, quite divine in logic and perception, and he rarely makes a mistake of judgment.
Goals
Cyrus will pursue his priestly Cleric class to mastery (20th level), then he may multi-class as a Fighter or even Barbarian.
