Chaga Sim

Description

Fierce and feline in nature and physiology, Chaga Sim looks like little more than a bipedal leopard-man. Though only just over five feet tall and 100 pounds, the karousi is compact with corded muscle and the trigger instincts of a feral hunter. His tawny body is golden in hue, decorated with numerous black spots to better blend in with woodland foliage. He walks easily on two legs, though the addition of his long and slender tail makes balance all the easier to maintain. A predatory gleam lurks in Chaga's golden eyes, slit like a great cat. He isn't entirely uncivilized at least, donning a leather loincloth and carrying a recurved long bow crafted of acacia wood by the finest bowyer the Swera karousi know. Chaga slinks through the land quietly, attuned to nature and attentive to his environment. He prowls with uncanny grace one would expect from a catman. But even among the karousi, Chaga Sim seems like a hunter perfected: an epitome of their fierce race.

History

Only 22 years ago, Chaga Sim was the single survivor of his mother's litter in Swera Woods of tropical Southern Kukul. Life was always harsh for the barbaric karousi; Chaga's siblings just didn't make it. Chaga survived with a combination of inherited cunning, luck, and fearless ferocity that made him the unchallenged warrior among this loose settlement of karousi. He spent little time among his fellow karousi anyway. Chaga more often dedicated his time to exploring and communing with the jungle and savannah. He befriended neighboring leopards and learned the ways of the wild. As he matured and recognized the threats to his home, Chaga took that knowledge and stalked enemies such as krenshars, hyenas, and gnolls. The antagonism between gnolls and karousi in his land was actually legendary. Eager to bury the hatchet…the gnoll way…the hyena-men formed a loose army and marched on the karousi settlement. Chaga was one of the first scouts to notice this danger and tried to warn his home. Alas, he came too late. The village was already in smoke and bodies lay everywhere. The gnolls won. Overcome with shame, Chaga fled the Swera forever.

Personality

Chaga was always a loner. Now he's alone for different reasons. He's angry understandably, but he blames himself for the death of his people. Chaga hates non-feline predators, too. His vindictive side mars his sense of harmony and threatens the attunement he had with nature. Of course, Chaga may simply embody the dark, vicious side of nature in the end, and that's acceptable, too.

Goals

Chaga will only pursue the Ranger class to mastery (20th level+) and beyond as an epic hunter.
