Ceyleen Thornwon

Description

Several long feet of black hair is bound up around Ceyleen Thornwon's head, carefully arranged around her delicate elven features like a shadowy halo. Ash wood hairpins keep it all in place. Ceyleen commands the youth and vigor of her long-lived race still, but maturing wisdom and understanding of the world and nature warms her forest-green eyes from the wilder gaze of her compatriots. There are few features to distinguish Ceyleen from her grugach people and other races of elves. Her lightly tanned skin helps, but so does her primitively tanned and dyed tunic that exposes much of her long and slender legs. Simple sandals protect her feet. When prepared for battle, Ceyleen will be found most often in stiff leather armor battered with iron studs, a circular shield of oak, and a spear crafted of the same. A silvery medallion of Hylmane hangs on her chest amidst modest curves. Her speech is soft and exotically accented. Lithe grace and an alert demeanor accompanies Ceyleen wherever she walks, bringing the consolation and mysteries of the moon with her.

History

In 764, Ceyleen Thornwon was born as Gawona Thornwon. Her family, like most grugach, maintained a primitive lifestyle deep in the woods. They occupied the Harristhala Forest in Northwestern Elan. She grew up learning how to hunt and gather herbs and berries. Gawona enjoyed the simple fun she and other grugach her age enjoyed, like swimming in ponds and chasing (or being chased by) sprites and fairies. One night, however, this young elf was moon bathing on a boulder in the hills. She was looking up at the stars and moon when a cool breeze blew through her hair (of which she was very proud). At that moment, she felt a stirring in her heart as she gazed lovingly on the moon. She knew then what she wanted to do with her life. Gawona visited the druids of her tribe, and they decided her faith was too specific for her to follow the proper path of the druid.

Instead, they sent Gawona to a distant community of wood elves. She didn't have to worry about the sylvan elves' opinion of her people, for she spent all her time in their seminary, dedicating herself to Hylmane, elven goddess of the moon. When she graduated thirty years later, she changed her name to Ceyleen in honor of her goddess. The young cleric returned to her people as soon as she could, but Ceyleen did have to offer her services at the sylvan elves' temple for an obligatory ten year period. Ten years to any elf? Pff. She finished that in no time and went back among her folk, offering her rare services to the welfare of the grugach. News of lycanthropy threatening neighboring lands disturbed Ceyleen, and she steeled herself for inevitable confrontations with these aberrations of nature and the accursed of the moon.

Personality

Ceyleen is a sweet girl with nothing but dedication to Hylmane and all that includes: which is both wild abandon and consoling softness. Though not a druid in profession, she is very much a nature priestess, whose focus on the moon precludes her from proper druidic practices. She doesn't mind in the least and enjoys the reactions she incites in others when she extends the unpredictable touch of the moon into their lives.

Goals

Ceyleen will remain focused on the path of the cleric until mastery (20th level), at which time she will take up the role of the Prestige Class of hierophant.
