Calix Pax

Description
Calix Pax walks with a foreboding humility. The stern countenance he bears indicates that to him, life isn't about freedom and doing what you want. It's about playing the role of brother's keeper. And he's big brother. The black-robed man is easily mistaken for a dark wizard or cleric, but his lithe grace and unusual haircut should direct otherwise. His mousy-brown hair is shaven straight down the center and the sides are cut close. Calix's icy eyes match the color of his hair and add to a plainness that does not register when he speaks. His voice is filled with command and a rigorous self-discipline he seems to know how to extend to others to keep them in line. This monk of average build is rarely with obvious weapons, but he keeps the tools of his trade close at hand when his quick hands and sandaled feet do not suffice. A simple traveling pack is slung over his shoulders and those deadly hands are kept folded in his hands when he walks and speaks. Calix is a no-nonsense, no-bullshit kind of guy. Don't mess up his ki.
History
About thirty years ago, Calix Pax was born into the family of officials in the most vital city of Praetoria, Jael. His strict parents raised him long enough for him to enjoy his first few years with his older sister, Ainsley. An unfortunate accident occurred to Calix's parents while they were away on a diplomatic trip to the western borders: an ambush by elves. Orphaned, Jael's officials transferred the two children to the city of Khon, giving them over to the Temple of Duvaun to transform them into laymen (and women) of the highest standards. After those first few strict years, Calix took to this way of life with a quiet, subdued earnest. He soon developed all the requisite skills of a fighting monk by his teens, and honed them further, deepening his comprehension of self-discipline and physical control. His sister followed suit, and they were an inseparable duo. They took to patrolling the streets of Khon together, watching its citizens and officials alike for signs of negligence and misbehavior that any clergy of Duvaun would disapprove. Occasionally, the pair dispensed justice, too, and found a sick pleasure in pummeling those that wailed for liberty but lacked the backbone to provide anything useful of themselves to society. Clearly, Calix and Ainsley were meant to be Duvaun’s curled fist, aimed at whosever stood in the way of orderly and efficient rule. Perhaps, in fact, Calix began to nurse ambitions that he would rise in the monasteric ranks and lead legions of like-minded clergy against their hated enemies to the west and north, those ridiculous do-gooders of Artos and Chrystana.
Personality
Calix is internal tyranny turned outwards. He believes responsibility comes before all things, including personal freedom, and despises those who believe otherwise. Indeed, he's more than happy to whip them into shape one way or another. This dark monk is not devoted to Duvaun so much as he is to the government set up around Duvaun, and he does have ambitions to climb its ranks and become a leader of some sort. Ultimately, he knows he walks the borderline of thuggery, but might does make right. It's all a matter of might of the mind as well as body, and in time he won't even have to lift a finger to win a battle. He knows one day he will be able to dominate all those around him with just the intensity of his focus, training, and steel-hardened will.
Goals
Calix is interested only in mastering the monk class and pushing it beyond to epic levels (20th level+).
