Beau "Peakfall" Bluebell
Description
Not quite even three and a half feet tall, Beau is bigger than his enemies would guess. The lightfoot halfling appears to be in his mid-twenties. Beau's black hair is a wild mess as if he hadn't heard of the invention called a comb. Often, leaves and tiny twigs are caught in his messy scalp. The halfling at least discovered the razor, and his smooth face is shaved clean. Brown eyes twinkle with lively attention and interest in his surroundings. Beau is in good shape, too, lacking the plumpness some halflings gain over time: clearly an adventurer of some sort. Judging by the confidence with which Beau wears his armor and arms, he may be a warrior. His torso, arms, and legs are shielded in tough leather set with steel rivets. The studded leather armor provides decent protection without detracting too much from his sneakier abilities. A belt winds around his waist, the large brass buckle displaying a humanoid skull and crossbones design. A dun-brown cloak is clasped around his neck by a tiny green copper symbol of Dellingala’s cornucopia. Slender, brown leather boots protect his feet, and a dagger is slid into a scabbard on the inside of his right boot. A sheathed short sword is bound to his left hip and a war sickle slid through the belt firmly on his right. A leather pouch sits on either side of the large belt buckle. In one rests his sling and bullets. The other carries small pieces of general gear. A leather backpack is slung over his shoulders, complete with rolled-up bedroll, over top of his cloak. A short bow is slid diagonally behind the pack and a large quiver of arrows is attached to the pack's side. Beau seems ready for anything, and he eagerly anticipates everything. Bring it on!
History
Beau Bluebell was born in 883 and raised in the extended halfling community of Bright Hills, in western Chrystana. He enjoyed his sorceress mother's arcane blessings while growing up. Beau came to appreciate the wonders and mysteries of life to the point that he spent most of his youth unsociably alone in the woods. Beau always sought to capture the innate gifts his mother commanded, yet he never did. When he reached adulthood, Beau was invited as a likely candidate for Bright Hills' small but prestigious ranger academy. He passed the broad initial tests, proving he was both smart and strong enough. He trained hard at the school, defining his value to the community. In defense of Bright Hills' perimeter once, the apprentice ranger distinguished himself by cutting an ogre down single-handedly -- slicing the beast's knees and Achilles' tendons until it collapsed and became exposed to his coup de grace. Beau earned the nickname of Peakfall and giant-slayer ever after. Beau took his training east, trekking through the woods in search of more evil giants to fell and to make a name for himself that would supersede his mother's mysterious reputation and sorcerous charms.
Personality
Though focused and single-minded when on the trail of an enemy, Beau is a rustic flirt in normal situations. Unfortunately, he can never quite separate the woods from his appearance, and his hair is often mussed, clothes tangled with brush. But the halfling has a good heart. While he has an ambition to acquire a glorious reputation, wealth and power do not interest him. Beau seeks only the most creature of comforts to ease his lifelong quest.
Goals
Beau will master the Ranger class (20th-level), and then consider mastering the Slayer prestige class (10th-level).
