Astyr

Description

Battle-ready and fierce, this fair-skinned woman is clad in the finest shirt of mithral links. A small circular steel shield of bright quality rests on her left forearm while a keen hand-and-a-half sword is gripped in her right. Astyr's sandy-blonde hair is bound back in a single thick braid. Her posture suggests she's eager to engage and the light in her sky-blue eyes is that of madness, the hunger of a berserker warrior eager to shed blood. Indeed, there's something quite off about Astyr, as if she were not quite human, but not quite divine. Astyr is packaged in mighty flesh but constituted by nothing but raw glory and passion for life, war, death, and what comes after. No matter how big her foe, Astyr clearly never hesitates to rush in headfirst so she can carve her name in its butt.

History

Like all valkyries, Astyr was birthed from the chaos and passion and hunger of glory and war itself. Essentially, she was a daughter of the great god, Hefdreyr, and served him as all valkyries did -- fighting his wars, collecting his souls. For over 2,000 years, Astyr proved her diligence and might against the enemies of his halls in Ysgard. Never did she hesitate to strike the final blow to a fallen and mortally wounded hero if need-be, so that she could carry his soul on the back of her loyal pegasus steed, Brede, back to the Palace of Hefdreyr to dwell in paradise forever. But as a creature of chaos, Astyr eventually grew discouraged and even bored fighting the same pointless battles and claiming the same sorts of heroes from the battlefields of the mortal coil. She took her first liberty and remained on Cael to watch a war, casting her bids on who would win this clash between ogres and humans, and wondering if the humans' heroes would fall, if she should harvest them for Hefdreyr…or help them fight on?

Personality

Astyr is fearless and quite frankly dangerous to everyone around her. Like all valkyries regardless of fighting profession, she charges right into her enemies and cuts down wide swaths of everything in her path. Allies are best off fighting on a different side of the battlefield! She is eager, believing her time to explore and relish existence is long overdue, and she's pleased that so far Hefdreyr seems to take no issue with Astyr sowing her oats awhile. The valkyrie is really a simple creature, but more than willing to learn new things as due to her inner nature.

Goals

Astyr will gobble up the benefits of the Fighter class to mastery and beyond (20th level+).
