Alanni Venkas
Description
When people in Cael think of gray elves, they imagine tall, slender elves with an affinity for prehistorical tomes and scrolls and myths that they actually lived through, a long-lived species so ancient that they were either hopelessly effete bookworms or tragically senile doddards. Alanni Venkas refutes…part of that. She is far from the oldest member of her race but her few centuries of life have indeed been jam-packed with literature. That is obvious by the sagely smile and unassuming linens she wears. A simple blade might be sheathed at her waist for common sense self-defense. But she’d rather hold her “weapon” of choice: a thick book. What really distinguishes Alanni from the stereotype is her casual, uncultivated beauty. Her practical pants and tunic compliment a curvy and plush figure, while her unblemished and timeless face bequeaths the serenity of learned wisdom. Hair so platinum it nearly turns blue braids back and out of the way in anticipation of a rare and relished adventure.
History
Alanni Venkas entered the world in Leyalaviranda, the largest gray elf city in Chrystana, 142 years ago. The elfling enjoyed the privileges of a sheltered life, surrounded by ages of knowledge and willing instructors. Like most elves, she showed a knack for magic. However, unlike many of her kind, she demonstrated a lack of patience with the accruing of knowledge. She did not pursue lore for the sake of power, but rather only the desire to broaden her horizons, to learn. To that end, she became a master of divination magics and her arcane arts led her all over Estonen. She delved into dungeons, sometimes with hired men-at-arms but often alone with only her wit and arcane will to protect herself. She always prevailed and returned home with new stories…and new lore even her own people, so isolated, failed to ever learn. Her most recent adventures included ancient lore on a sword so old that even her own kin had no record of it, and she wondered if proto-elves forged it. It seemed worth pursuing, so in spite of the dangers and warnings, Alanni ventured alone into the wilderness of the Sonodell Mountains, bordering the dangerous darkling lands of Darsix.
Personality
Alanni proves inquisitive and insatiably curious at every turn. She has and would continue to risk life and limb for an old, musty book. In fact, the normally upbeat, thoughtful, wise, and compassionate gray elf could only be turned to a moment of hatred by witnessing thoughtless harm inflicted upon an innocent grimoire.
Goals
Alanni would master the wizard class a bit more before temporarily shifting to the prestige class of Loremaster, mastering it (10th) before returning to take her arcane badassery to epic levels (20th+).
