Ahura -- "Bugyll"

Description

When Bugyll adopts a human form, he appears to be a wizened, middle-aged man of Estonen heritage but Yadahnian flavor. Bugyll favors simple traveler's attire of that foreign culture, coming across as a hardy nomad. But in his natural form, Ahura is far more regal. Twenty-five feet long and 7,282 pounds of rippling muscle and grace, he's quite a sight to behold. His scales offer a warm, burnished glow. Frills reach from the tip of his tail to the height of his neck. They match the leathery power of his great wingspan. Both frills and wings are darker than his metallic body, almost mottled green. His headplates cover his reptilian skull like a grand helm, from which eyes like molten orbs of brass watch all. Ahura seems to view everything in a lazy and amused fashion. Chin horns seem like daggers as sharp as his teeth and the claws remind onlookers than even a good brass dragon is still a dragon. Regardless of his current appearance, Ahura has a tangy metallic odor about him that reminds one of what it's like to lick sun-heated copper or iron.

History

Commonly known as Bugyll, Ahura was hatched and raised in the Aria Desert. This brass dragon grew up recognizing the secret role of his kind. The brass dragons were charged by the gods as the guardian angels of this land. Many mysteries were locked away beneath its dry, sun-baked surface. Ahura's mated parents made sure he understood this task of protecting the desert's sanctity and future. His father died fulfilling this role, in fact, slain in battle with an ancient blue drake. Ahura knew many dangers awaited his future, too. His mother prepared him further by teaching him how to reap his divine and innate gifts of sorcery. When she retired to a distant realm for awhile, Ahura began his adult life. He became acquainted with his desert's geography above and below, as well as its denizens fair and foul. He avoided the bigger blue dragons until his power grew with age. The well-learned drake spent decades communing with elementals and genies. He fought blue dragons, wyverns, and purple worms. Ahura visited far-off lands, especially Yadahn. He acquainted a host of interesting adventurers and heroes and sometimes aided them in their quests. When he ripened with age, the old brass settled back permanently in the Aria Desert. He would help see its destiny fulfilled and chase away all would-be defilers.

Personality

Ahura comes across as the quintessential brass dragon. Over 400 years old now, his eccentric and talkative behavior is balanced with great wisdom and well-traveled and well-cultured savvy. Ahura was always a good-natured and even-tempered dragon. But his experience over the centuries have added a sense of patient vigilance and cautious bravery.

Goals

Ahura would pursue the Sorcerer class to its mastery (20th level) and then consider a prestige class like Loremaster.
